<hi style=afpcap>Northrop developed a private venture of an all-metal monoplane which emerged as the Model 2-C. The Army purchased the aircraft allocating the designation YA-13. Further developed as the XA-16, before production of the A-17 followed. At least two were converted as staff transports for Headquarters Command in Washington, designated the A-17AS as depicted.</hi>
